RED VELVET CAKE


1 1/2 c. sugar
2 c. Crisco oil
2 eggs
1 tsp. vinegar
1 bottle red food coloring
2 1/2 c. all-purpose flour
1 tsp. baking soda
1 tsp. salt
2 tbsp. cocoa
1 c. buttermilk
1 tsp. vanilla extract
Cream sugar and oil. Add eggs and beat well. Add vinegar and food coloring, beat well. Sift dry ingredients and add slowly to mixture. Add buttermilk and vanilla, beat well. Bake at 350 degrees for 35 minutes or until done.

FROSTING:
1 stick of butter
1 (8 oz.) cream cheese
1 tsp. vanilla extract
1 box powdered sugar
1 c. chopped black walnuts
Cream butter and cheese. Add vanilla and sugar, mix well. Add nuts. Spread on cooled cake.
